Yesterday I had my first workout after four years. And yes, I embarrassed myself. After some deliberation, I decided to join a local karate joint. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but I know it’s something I can continue indefinitely as long as the funds don’t run dry. 🙂 So how did it go?
It started off quite well. I did the warm up without collapsing. Then we started with a kata. I was feeling quite well, until I wasn’t. haha I seriously thought at one point I could flutter to the ground if I didn’t get a break. Rather than waking up with da masta hovering over me, I asked for a breather.
I wish I could say that was the worst of it. Unfortunately it wasn’t. After the break, my body decided we were done, and it was time for a nap. Every time I paused for instructions I was plagued with yawning fits. It was horrible, but I couldn’t stop myself. At one time my instructor even commented that I must have had a long day. tee hee He probably thought he was boring me. Stupid body!
The session was suppose to last an hour, but we stopped 15 minutes early so I could give my lame ass heart a sorely needed rest. I wanted to insist on getting my money’s worth. But considering the likelihood I’d pass out from exertion soon, stopping really did seem best.
Anyway, I had fun. A few weeks of this and I’ll be good to go.
