Today my husband came in smiling with a package and a box in his hands. To my excitement, he handed both to me! I read the label on the box, Burgess – kiwi plant, and tossed it aside for the package. M. Brebner, I recognized the name and had an inkling of the goody to come. I tore into the sack (I’m not one for niceties) and pulled out my prize. “Shades of Grey” by Jasper Fforde. Though I have a thousand and one books on my to read list, I’ve moved this to the top. Why you might ask? Well, to be honest, it’s because it’s not a book I’d normally pick out for myself, and that intrigues me. The cover doesn’t have a half-clad man on the front. There are no freaky eyes looking out. It’s just cluttered and different. Plus, it comes with high praise from Mary. I’ve already started reading this, and I can imagine my daughters would love to get their hands on it after I’m finished.
